Word Counter
Live counts for words, characters, sentences, paragraphs and reading time.

How it works
Every count updates as you type, and everything is calculated locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded or stored. Word counts are useful for essays, articles, applications and social posts with length limits, while character counts (with and without spaces) matter for tweets, meta descriptions and text-message limits.
FAQ
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. The counter runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server, stored, or seen by anyone but you.
How is reading time estimated?
Silent reading is estimated at 200 words per minute, a common adult average. Individual speeds vary with text difficulty and familiarity.
How are sentences counted?
By splitting on sentence-ending punctuation (. ! ? …). It’s a close approximation; punctuation habits vary, and abbreviations like “Dr.” can occasionally inflate the count.
