Resize Image

Exact pixels, social-media presets, or inches for print — with aspect ratio respected.

How it works

Resizing re-samples your image to the exact dimensions you choose using the browser’s high-quality image scaling. In default “stretch” mode the image fills the new dimensions exactly (fine when the aspect ratio already matches, and what most social platforms expect); “fit inside” instead scales to the largest version that fits within the target box without cropping, padding the rest with white. Print mode converts inches to pixels at your chosen DPI — 300 DPI is the standard for crisp printing.

FAQ

Why does Instagram need 1080 pixels?

Instagram stores photos at up to 1080 pixels wide and resizes anything else itself — uploading an exact-size image means the platform never resamples your photo, which is the only way to guarantee “without losing quality”. Portrait 1080×1350 is the tallest feed post that isn’t cropped, and 1080×1920 is the story format.

What DPI should I use for printing?

300 DPI is the print standard — a 6×4 inch print then needs 1800×1200 pixels. Screens are different: 72-150 DPI is typical, which is why a photo that looks great on screen can look soft printed at the same pixel size.

Does resizing reduce quality?

Downscaling almost never looks worse — the detail per pixel actually increases. Upscaling beyond the original size softens detail (no tool can invent real detail). If you must upscale, prefer a modest percentage over a huge jump.
